A man has been arrested after a stand off with police following an alleged assault in Kirkcaldy.
Police Scotland officers in riot gear swooped on a block of flats in Earn Road where the drama unfolded on Sunday afternoon.
Following reports of an assault in Lawson Street, the suspect had gone to a property in Earn Road.
Officers surrounded the block as trained negotiators made contact with the suspect. Police dog handlers were also seen in the area.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Around 12:45pm on Sunday June 21, 2020, police received a report a man had been attacked in Lawson Street, Kirkcaldy.
“Officers attended and were advised the attacker, armed with an offensive weapon, had run off.
“Officers conducted a search of the area and located the man, within a property, in Earn Road.
“Specially trained officers negotiated with the man and he was later arrested.”
Police said inquiries were continuing into the incident.
