Maci’s rainbows raise more than £1,800 for Benarty Foodbank

Fife youngster Maci Fotheringham proved there was gold at the end of the rainbow after her efforts raised much-needed funds to support her local foodbank.

Volunteers from Benarty Foodbank said they were delighted to receive a cheque for an impressive £1,886.68 from the 11-year-old, who raised the cash by creating rainbows which could be obtained by people and local businesses making a donation.

Children across the country have been painting rainbows to give people something to smile about while lockdown continues during the coronavirus pandemic.

Maci found her rainbows were in demand after a local police constable asked for one of her paintings to put in the window of his police car in exchange for a donation to the foodbank.

Maci initially set a £200 fundraising goal but decided to keep going after smashing the target.
