Families in need will receive healthy soup this summer thanks to Fife-based Kettle Produce.
The vegetable producer is donating stew packs to lone parent charity Fife Gingerbread to support families who normally rely on school meals to feed their children.
The packs, containing carrots, swede, onions and parsnips, will be used to make soup at a community venue where families registered with the organisation can pick them up or have them delivered.
Zoe Taylor, from Fife Gingerbread, said: “The vegetable packs that Kettle Produce have generously donated during holiday times are being used to support the families in all of Fife Gingerbread’s projects across Fife, who are surviving on a strict budget and struggling on the poverty line.
“Kettle Produce have supported Fife Gingerbread families with stew packs for several years, provided fresh produce for teatime clubs and helped us set up our allotment.”
Liz Waugh, financial director at Kettle Produce, added: “During the covid-19 pandemic it has become even more important to look out for our local community and assist those in need.
“At Kettle Produce, we are motivated to help support the local Fife community and we feel grateful that we are in a strong position to make a difference.
“We take great pride in knowing that our fresh produce can help feed and support many families and we look forward to continuing to support Fife Gingerbread and other organisations in a variety of great initiatives in the future.”
