A person had to be airlifted to hospital after falling 30 feet on to rocks on the Fife side of the Queensferry Crossing.
Emergency services were scrambled late on Saturday night with coastguard teams, a lifeboat and helicopter called out at around 10.41pm.
The casualty is understood to have fallen from a cliff and landed on the shore of the River Forth between Rosyth and the Queensferry Crossing.
They were treated by paramedics before being taken by helicopter to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
A spokesperson for the RNLI Queensferry lifeboat, said: “Launched to a casualty that had fallen 30ft down a cliff onto rocks on the shore of the River Forth between Rosyth and the Queensferry Crossing.
“The lifeboat stood by near the shore while coastguard and paramedics assessed the best way to evacuate the casualty from the challenging area.
“The coastguard helicopter Rescue 199, based at Prestwick, were able to land on the shoreline and once safely in the helicopter they transferred the casualty directly to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
“South Queensferry Coastguard, Kinghorn Coastguard and a SORT team from Scottish Ambulance Service were in attendance shoreside.
“The lifeboat was stood down once it was confirmed that everyone was safely clear of the shoreline and made way back to Hawes Pier to be recovered and made ready for service once again.
“A late one for everyone involved, but as always the crews from all services in attendance were just happy to be able to help when needed.

The condition of the injured person is not known, although their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
