Two people have been arrested after a man suffered serious injuries during a disturbance in Glenrothes.
Police were called to Forres Drive at around 7.30pm on Thursday after a 28-year-old man was found with blood pouring from deep wounds to his head, neck and hand following an assault.
Witnesses reported that the alleged attackers had used a bladed weapon, described as a “meat cleaver”, and Police Scotland issued an appeal for information.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital where his injuries were described as “serious but not life threatening”.
Investigations are ongoing but a spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that a 31-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident on Friday.
“A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal,” they added.
“Officers would like to thank the public for their assistance in this enquiry.”
Information can be given by calling police on 101.
