A man has died following an early morning road crash in west Fife on Friday morning.
Frank MacFarlane, 61, from Rosyth, passed away at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Saturday after suffering serious injuries in the crash on the A985 between Cairneyhill roundabout and Kincardine.
Mr MacFarlane’s blue BMW 3 Series left the road and struck a wall at around 5.35am, and he was rushed over the Forth for emergency treatment in Edinburgh by ambulance.
Police have now confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers are still seeking witnesses to the incident and hope motorists who were in or around the area at the time and may have seen the vehicle involved will come forward.
Sergeant Alastair Purvis, of Fife’s road policing department, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr MacFarlane at this difficult time.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. We would urge anybody who was driving on the road and may have dashcam footage or witnessed the incident to contact police.”
