A family – including a baby in the back seat – had a lucky escape after their car flipped on the M90 through Fife on Saturday.
Traffic was at a standstill in both directions following the incident on the northbound stretch of the dual carriageway between Dunfermline and Kelty at around 4.30pm.
The vehicle involved overturned and came to rest on railings along the central reservation, although the car blocked the outside lane.
Fortunately the car’s three occupants, including a young infant who had been in a car seat in the back of the vehicle, were taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital having suffered only minor injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash on the M90, junction 3 Northbound around 4.30pm on Saturday, 1 August, 2020.
“The three occupants, a man, woman and a young child, were taken to the Victoria Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
“Enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.”
Eyewitnesses suggest another vehicle may have struck the family’s car as it travelled between junctions three and four, causing it to crash into the barriers, but anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
