Robyn Knox, the three year old killed in a road accident in Townhill, has been laid to rest in Kirkcaldy.
On Thursday, her tiny coffin was carried through the streets of Kirkcaldy by a horse drawn carriage as the funeral procession made its way to Dysart Cemetery, where the family paid their last respects in a private ceremony.
Mourners had been asked to wear something pink and the white horses leading the cortege through the town wore pink plumes.
On Wednesday, Robyn’s mother Danielle Falconer wrote on social media: “Today has been hard and I know tomorrow will be even harder.
“It has been a day of finals and it has absolutely killed us all.
“Our final goodbyes before your coffin was shut, our final look at your beautiful face, the final time I got to put a pretty bow in your hair, the final time we got to read you a story or stroke your tiny hands.”
Robyn’s uncle Paul Marshall had walked the West Highland Way to help raise funds for the funeral and the crowdfunding campaign reached a total of more than £18,000.
Posting on the JustGiving page, he said: “Barry and Danielle, Robyn’s parents, are truly blown away with all your generosity. This money will go a long way to giving Robyn the perfect send off and help to ensure her memory lives on.”
Concerns had been raised for years about road safety in Townhill. Following the tragedy, Fife Council’s transportation service is considering parking restrictions to improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians.
