Fifers are being asked to celebrate the people who made lockdown a little easier for them in this year’s Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards.
This year’s ceremony will feature 19 categories recognising individuals, groups, schools, new businesses and community initiatives, including Act of Kindness, Key Worker Award, Best Neighbour, Best Family, Best Teacher and NHS Hero.
They will be celebrated in a special Local Hero Awards week in October.
Barry Snedden, Kingdom FM sales manager, said: “People say the worst of times bring out the best of people and that’s something as a station we’ve been hearing a lot about over lockdown.
“I can’t wait to hear more about those Fifers and the things they’ve achieved in the most challenging of times.”
Kingdom FM’s programme controller Dave Connor, who co-hosts the station’s breakfast show with Vanessa Motion and hosts the awards, said the pair couldn’t wait to celebrate emarkable people across Fife and hear the humbling stories they have to share.
Vivian Clarkson, Kingdom FM’s event co-ordinator, added: “We had already received an amazing amount of nominations before lockdown and I’d like to reassure everyone that they will all be included in the judging process.
“We’ve also added some additional categories to make sure we can highlight as many worthy Fifers as possible.”
Nominations can be made online at kingdomfm.co.uk/hero and must be in before 5pm on Thursday August 27.
