A man is in police custody after the attempted murder of a woman at a Fife beauty spot yesterday evening.
Officers, including a police dog search team rushed to Woodend Community Woodland on the B981 on outskirts of Cowdenbeath shortly after 6pm on Sunday evening following reports of a woman being found injured at the site.
The area surrounding the woodland was sealed off as police launched an investigation into the incident.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A report was received of a 23-year-old woman who was found injured in a wooded area off Broad Street in Cowdenbeath around 6.10pm on Sunday, August 30.
“She has been taken to hospital for treatment, where she is in a critical but stable condition.
“A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which is being treated as attempted murder, and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information, particularly anyone who is in the area around Broad Street or the wooded area around that time, can contact police on 101, quoting incident 3090 of 30 August, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Much of the woodland remains sealed off today as officers continue with their investigations.
