Venues in Pitlochry and Fife are determined not to let Covid-19 cancel Christmas this year.
A festive experience bringing some much-needed sparkle is coming to Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline.
Designed to comply with social distancing measures, The Magic of Christmas will see visitors taken on a tour of the venues, with the experience including a magical forest, Santa in Lapland and a journey into space.
Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s artistic director Elizabeth Newman said: “Christmas should be a time to get together, a time for escape and to look after others, a time for light, hope and joy.
“We’ve all lost so much this year but especially children and with pantos and Christmas shows cancelling, Covid was taking away the joy and magic of Christmas too.
“We were determined, if there was any possible way, we wouldn’t let that happen.”
“Together with our good friends at OnFife, starting from the point of safety and social distancing, we envisioned then developed an experience that was affordable and accessible for everyone – both financially and physically – that would finally allow us to come together, be entertained, be excited, and look forward.”
Verdi Clark, OnFife’s programme manager, said: “This year has given us all many challenges and we wanted to make sure our loyal theatre audiences are able to experience the magic and wonder of Christmas in style.
“Working with Pitlochry has given us this opportunity and we are so excited to be bringing The Magic Of Christmas to Fife in our beautiful art-deco Carnegie Hall and gardens. This wonderful experience is all about quality, family, fun and safety with enough Christmas sparkle for everyone, young and old.”
The Magic of Christmas will be at Pitlochry Festival Theatre from November 27 to December 23 and at Carnegie Hall from December 3 to 20.
Visitors will be taken through the event in small groups throughout the day and evening.
Organisers have given an assurance that there will be rigorous measures to prevent spread of Covid-19, including extensive cleaning, a marshalled one-way system, separate entrance and exit and hand sanitiser throughout the venues.
Those wishing to attend the event at Carnegie Hall can now book tickets.
Booking at Pitlochry Festival Theatre is also open for the theatre’s Friends and Supporters, and opens to the wider public from September 22.
