Several people are in isolation following a positive Covid-19 case linked to a Fife salon.
Environmental health officials have given Divit Barbers by Kate in Inverkeithing’s Church Street a “clean bill of health” after it emerged one of the employees had tested positive for coronavirus last week.
A full deep clean of the premises has been carried out and the salon remains open for business on reduced hours due to the knock-on effect on staff.
It is understood the affected employee took a test on Tuesday as a precaution and continued to see clients at the salon.
The member of staff has since taken to social media to say they are “absolutely devastated” and has apologise to anyone with whom they had contact in the intervening period.
Business partner Kate Mcquillan thanked members of the public for their support and said the incident has shown the importance of track and trace details being submitted.
Dr Lorna Watson, a consultant in public health medicine at NHS Fife, said systems are in place via the Test and Protect programme to identify close contacts of positive cases quickly to reduce the chances of the virus spreading any further.
“This is a tried and tested method of breaking the chains of transmission for communicable viruses such as COVID-19.
“It is crucial that anyone experiencing the well-established symptoms of COVID-19, such as a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, arranges to be tested using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal or by calling 0800 028 2816.”
A local online support hub has also been created to provide information on testing for COVID-19, and updates on the pandemic, via
