A small fire in a house in Newport-on-Tay was extinguished prior to the arrival of firefighters late on Wednesday evening. Two crews were called to a report of a blaze in King Street at around 8.15pm, but they were only required to help ventilate the property affected. One appliance from Tayport had raced to the scene, with a fire engine from Dundee’s Blackness Road also summoned from over the Tay to assist. No-one was injured and the fire, which started in a room in the first floor, had been put out before the fire engines got there.
