A Fife trainee accounts assistant is aiming to be ‘one in a million’ completing the London Marathon this weekend.
On Sunday, history will be made as the one-millionth London Marathon finisher crosses the world famous finish line on The Mall.
And Karen Robb, 40, from Markinch, is hoping to make it a memorable occasion as she raises much-needed funds for Alzheimer Scotland in the process. Her family has been hit hard by Alzheimer’s disease and she knows all too well the heartache it causes to people.
She said: “My husband’s uncle, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, went missing near his home in Stirling four years ago.
“Unfortunately, he was never found and now presumed dead, and my gran also has dementia.
“It’s extremely hard and upsetting to watch someone you love deteriorate and to no longer be the person they were so I’m determined to raise as much as I can to help fund research into the disease, and to help those who may be affected in years to come.”
