People living near an annual Fife funfair have demanded police step up patrols if it is to go ahead again.
Residents of Links Street in Kirkcaldy claim they were plagued by youths running riot during the recent Links Market.
They say two gangs fought a pitched battle on their street last Saturday, leaving them too frightened to leave their homes.
Local man Shane Halstead, said: “If anybody had tried to stop them they would have been kicked to death.”
Police praised the carnival, which attracted an estimated 120,000 people and only a handful of arrests were made throughout the week.
Rab O’Donnell, secretary of the New Linktown Tenants and Residents Association, said: “I would like to see police back inside the Market and on Links Street and that way people feel safe.”
Inspector Graeme Neill of Police Scotland said: “There was a consistent policing presence in the area throughout the duration of the event.”
