Pupils at two Fife primary schools have been told to stay at home after confirmed Covid-19 cases.
NHS Fife said on Wednesday evening that individuals linked to Aberdour and Leslie primary schools had tested positive for the virus and pupils had been told to isolate with their families.
The two unrelated positive cases linked to the schools were described as having mild symptoms and were said to be isolating at home with other household members.
“There is no evidence of onward transmission within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff appears to be low,” said a spokesman for NHS Fife.
As a result of the case linked to Aberdour Primary School, pupils in the primary seven class have been told to stay off school up to and including Thursday October 8, returning to school the next day.
At Leslie Primary School parents were told on Tuesday night of a suspected case, which has now been confirmed, and pupils in the composite primary two and three class must remain off school and isolate until Sunday October 11.
Meanwhile, NHS Fife has provided an update after a further two cases linked to Pitreavie Primary School tested positive for Covid-19.
On Monday, parents were told of a single case linked with the Dunfermline school.
The spokesman said: “All positive cases continue to experience relatively mild symptoms and are isolating at home with other household members.
“While there is no evidence of transmission within the school, as a precaution staff and pupils from the Yellow Room, Orange Room and Blue Room must now self-isolate up to and including October 8, returning to school October 9.
“Contact tracers from the Test and Protect Team are in the process of identifying and tracing the known contacts of all positive cases to provide public health support and advice.”
NHS Fife reiterated its advice for anyone displaying symptoms of Covid-19, such as a fever, new and continuous cough or change of taste and smell, to arrange testing via the UK Government Citizens’ Portal or by calling 0800 028 2816.
