Police have confirmed that they have found the body of Kirkcaldy man Stuart Craig, who had last been seen a week ago.
Officers have carried out an extensive search for the 26-year-old in recent days amid concerns for his wellbeing.
Now police have revealed that a body was found in the docks area of town on Thursday.
Inspector Graeme Neill, from Kirkcaldy Police Station, said: “Sadly we have now confirmed that it is Stuart Craig and his family have been informed.
“Stuart’s family thank the public, police and everyone involved in the search for him and his mother wished the following statement to be issued through Police Scotland.
“Stuart was a much loved son, brother, nephew and grandson. He was a special person who fought a long battle for so long and now he is finally at peace.”
The family have asked for privacy at this time to come to terms with their loss.
Mr Craig had last been seen near Victoria Hospital on Yetholm Way at around 10.45pm on Friday.
