Scottish Water is set to carry out over £200,000 worth of improvement works to sections of the sewer networks in Methil and Burntisland.
Small segments at Harbour View in Methil and Haugh Road in Burntisland have been affected by the growth of tree roots, meaning work to reline the existing sewers needs to be carried out.
The work is due to begin today and is likely to last up to two weeks.
Locals should not notice any change in supply, although Scottish Water said the work may require 24 hour attendance which could result in some low level background noise and lights generated by equipment.
