A Kirkcaldy restaurant and nightspot has closed its doors in what is the latest blow to the town centre.
The owners of Fifty High Street have said that financial pressures and time commitments meant that they could no longer keep the premises open.
A statement from the venue’s owner, Lynn Robertson, said that while the premises was successful at weekends, sustaining custom midweek had proven difficult.
“It has been an extremely difficult decision to close the doors of Fifty High Street,” she said.
“There are many reasons for this happening. Although we were busy Friday, Saturday and the occasional Sunday, the struggle to get custom in during the week has been difficult.
“Financially this isn’t viable.”
Claiming that the her husband, Callum, was working excessive hours, Mrs Robertson added that maintaining the restaurant and bar, which opened just over two years ago, was no longer viable.
“We will miss it hugely as we have lived, breathed and slept Fifty High Street since we took it over.
“Hopefully someone will step in quickly and it will be open again soon.”
The closure of Fifty High Street comes a fortnight after the closure of Red Bar and Restaurant, on Tolbooth Street, due to a downturn in trade.
