A bomb squad was scrambled after a “suspicious package” was reported at a care home in Fife.
Police and bomb disposal experts rushed to Ostlers House care home in Kirkcaldy on Tuesday afternoon, and the building was cordoned off as a precaution.
However, the drama at the Fife Council run home in Wellington Place turned out to be a false alarm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to Ostlers House care home in Kirkcaldy around 2.15pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, following a report of a suspicious package.
“A cordon was put in place as a precaution. Following examination by Explosives Ordnance Disposal, it was confirmed that the item posed no threat to the public and was removed from the building.”
It is understood the incident was dealt with without any residents being evacuated.
Police have revealed no further details about the item which sparked the emergency response.
