A Fife charity’s biggest ever Christmas appeal has received a welcome boost from a Kirkcaldy company.

Design and print firm Multiprint has pledged to donate half the takings from the sale of the 2021 calendars to the Cottage Family Centre, which is collecting for the town’s most vulnerable children.

Managing director Jay Todd said £5 from every £10 calendar sold would go to towards ensuring youngsters had presents, food and warm clothing this festive season.

“It is difficult to imagine children and families at Christmas time without presents, let alone food,” he said.

“We are delighted to pledge our support to the Cottage, knowing that, for some, Christmas will still happen.”

Jay said one positive aspect to have come from the Covid-19 pandemic had been a shift towards thinking locally.

“As a local business we wanted to help those in need on our doorstep,” he said.

Cottage manager Pauline Buchan said the team was delighted to have Multiprint’s support.

“We can’t thank Jay and his staff enough,” she said.

“This year, children and families who live in poverty need our support more than ever before.

“All of the money raised will be used to buy food, toys and clothes to ensure no child goes without.

“We are overwhelmed by the support we have already received from companies like Multiprint and can’t thank them enough for what they are doing for us.”

The calendars are available from Multiprint’s office in Seafield Road, Kirkcaldy, by calling 01592 204755 or through the ShopAppy Kirkcaldy page shoappy.com/kirkcaldy/

People can also donate directly to the Cottage Family Centre, which is accepting new clothes, pyjamas, new toys, toiletries, non-perishable food and baby milk.

Preloved items cannot be accepted for health and safety reasons.

The charity launched its annual appeal weeks earlier than normal in the expectation that more families than ever before would be in need of their help due to the effects of the pandemic.

Last year, it supported 1,271 families in need – a 20% increase on 2018.
