A boat with nearly 100 passengers on board had to be assisted by lifeboat teams after developing steering problems in the Firth of Forth.
The Anstruther lifeboat crew were scrambled to the Isle of May after a pleasure boat was unable to manoeuvre away from the nature reserve.
Both of the station’s boats were called to the scene at 4pm on Saturday to help the May Princess in to the waters of the Forth, before it made its way back to the East Neuk.
The two boats were then required to help steer the vessel, which had 96 passengers on board, once it arrived at Anstruther Harbour.
Martin McNamara, spokesperson for the Anstruther lifeboat, said: “It was nothing too dramatic really.
“The boat had lost its steering with 96 people and crew on board.
When it got back to Anstruther harbour we helped to put it in to position as it is quite tight there, but it was a pretty standard rescue for us.”
The operators of the boat, Anstruther Pleasure Cruises, told The Courier that they did not wish to comment but said that all was well following the incident.
