Transformation of an abandoned building at Ladybank Railway Station has earned national recognition. New life was breathed into the Laird’s Waiting Room by Ladybank Development Trust and Fife Historic Buildings Trust. The previously derelict structure, once the private waiting room of the Haig family, was on an ‘at risk’ register but is now a public meeting room. It won the supporters’ prize in the National Railway Heritage Awards. The award goes to the best small project in the annual competition and a plaque was unveiled yesterday by awards trustee Chris Smyth.
