A Fife dog owner fears someone has tried to poison her pet with a drug-spiked sausage. Lorraine Turner, of Kennoway, found a cocktail sausage containing two white pills in her back garden on Tuesday morning. Thankfully she picked it up before her two-year-old collie Willow or her sister’s dog Chico ate it. “I think it was meant for Willow,” she said. “I think this has been deliberate, but I couldn’t put money on it.” Mrs Turner, 51, said she was “sick to the stomach” after the incident. “The sausage had a slit down one side of it. When I picked it up I noticed the slit and opened it, then noticed two tablets inside. The sausage had two pills inside it. “I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it. Who would do this?” She believes the tablets could be valium because they appear to have a “v” stamped on them. Also known as diazepam, valium is a tranquilliser used to treat insomnia, anxiety and symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. “I was hoping to get it examined,” said Mrs Turner. “I might even take it to the vets and get them to do it.” Police Scotland have been notified about the incident.
