A young child sufferered minor injuries in the crash, described as a “rear end shunt” between two cars near the junction with Checkbar Road. No-one else in either of the cars, confirmed as a red Citroen and a grey Audi, was injured, police have said. The site is often the scene of accidents as stationary drivers wait to turn right towards Coaltown of Wemyss. Police officers closed the road at the Kirkcaldy end for almost an hour and a half. Traffic coming in the opposite direction was diverted via the Checkbar Road. A police spokesman said both cars were removed and the road was fully reopened. The Standing Stane Road is the main route from Kirkcaldy to Levenmouth and the east neuk of Fife.
