A Fife author has paid his own very special tribute to one of the region’s most respected figures.
Leslie poet and writer Ian Nimmo White’s new novel, titled ‘Of Love and Sanity’, is based on the life and times of the late Jim Lewis, a former district councillor and youth and community organiser who passed away last year.
Mr Lewis was also one of the legendary Chindits who fought against the Imperial Japanese Army, and confided in Mr Nimmo White about his time serving in Burma.
“Despite being tortured by the enemy, and suffering a total breakdown when he returned to the UK, he turned it around by dedicating the rest of his life to disadvantaged young people,” Mr Nimmo White said.
“The needier the young person, the more of his time he devoted.”
The book is available through Amazon, and a donation will be made to the SSPCA – reflecting Mr Lewis’ great love for animals.
