A Fife congregation is opening their church this weekend to offer support to anyone who is struggling with grief, anger or pain over Liam Fee’s death.
Rev Carolann Erskine, minister for Markinch and Thornton, said Thornton Church will be open for quiet reflection and prayer today from 5pm to 7pm and over the weekend from 2pm to 4pm.
Rev Erskine, said: “The loss of a child is always sad, but the loss of a child in such distressing circumstances is a tragedy that affects the whole community.
“Our community today is feeling tremendous shock, anger, distress and disappointment.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of little Liam.
She said the community was comforting each other with kindness.
“Our heartfelt prayers go out to Liam’s family and friends, to the professionals who knew him and to everyone involved with Liam’s case. We pray that they may find peace and solace,” she added.
“We are opening our Church to those who need space for quiet reflection, condolence and support. “We invite everyone in our community to come inside, draw alongside the silence, draw alongside each other in an invisible embrace and draw hope from the love and kindness we share in God our Father.”
