A man had to be rescued from a ground floor flat in Kirkcaldy by firefighters on Thursday evening.
Appliances from Kirkcaldy fire station were quickly at the scene of the blaze in Smeaton Gardens, which was reported at 5.45pm.
The first crews in attendance were faced with what was described as a “well-developed” fire within a room in a ground floor flat.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus rescued a man from the flat and gave him first aid and oxygen for smoke inhalation and treatment to burns to his hands before he was taken to Victoria Hospital by ambulance.
Crews searched the other flats and led three other people to safety.
The three people, two women and a child, were checked over by the ambulance crew but did not require hospital treatment.
