Police officers are investigating a serious assault in Glenrothes.
Locals reported a heavy police presence in Alexander Road and nearby Malcolm Road following the incident at around 8.30pm on Wednesday.
“I heard a guy screaming and went out,” said one local man who didn’t wish to be named.
He said there were a number of police vehicles at the incident and that officers had cordoned off an area which they were searching.
The man said he understood that the police were looking for weapons, possibly a hammer or knife and that the victim had been bleeding profusely from a stomach wound.
A Police Scotland spokesman wouldn’t be drawn on the severity of the injuries sustained but confirmed that they were investigating the incident.
“Police received a report of a man having been assaulted in Malcolm Road, Glenrothes,” he said.
“A man has been taken to hospital and inquiries are ongoing.”
