Love them or loathe them, traffic wardens could be forgiven for going about their daily business and ticketing cars which flout parking laws.
But Fife Council has come in for some criticism after one over-zealous traffic warden was spotted going about his business over the weekend – having himself parked on double yellow lines.
The incident was caught on camera in Dunfermline’s Walmer Drive at around midday on Sunday morning, and left some locals speechless.
“You wouldn’t credit it,” one told The Courier.
“The guy parks on a double yellow, gets out and starts giving tickets to people.
“Unreal.”
The spot the warden chose to park on is within a couple of hundred yards of a large council-run car park.
In response, Tony McRae, lead professional for parking and public transport infrastructure management at Fife Council, said: “Parking attendants are exempt from most parking restrictions whilst carrying out their duties.
“Whilst they will always seek alternative, non-restricted parking, this is not always possible to enable them to undertake their enforcement duties.”
