The “devastated” family of Ian Goodall have described him as having “a heart of pure gold”.
Mr Goodall, 54, was found dead in his Glenrothes home last Saturday.
A 25-year-old man has since appeared in court charged with his murder.
Mr Goodall’s family paid tribute to him, saying: “We are devastated by the sudden loss of Ian who was a loving father, grandfather and brother.
“Ian had a heart of pure gold and lived life to the full.
“We will miss him and didn’t expect him to be taken from us so soon.”
They urged anyone with information which could help police with their investigations to come forward.
Detective Inspector Stuart Wilson, of the Major Investigation team, added: “An investigation is still ongoing to establish the full circumstances leading up to Ian’s death.
“We’re appealing for those with any information that may help with our enquiries to contact us.”
Information can be passed on to Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
