A 74-year-old man has died after being struck by a van on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy.
He was hit by a white Ford Transit van travelling towards the town on the B9157 Invertiel Road at around 12.30am on Tuesday, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van was not injured.
Police closed the road while accident investigators examined the scene near the junction with Jawbanes Road.
Inspector Brenda Sinclair of Fife’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our condolences are with the family of the man who sadly died.
“I would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the B9157 around midnight or late last night who might have seen a man wearing dark clothing walking on that route, or who may have seen a white Ford Transit van travelling towards Kirkcaldy, to get in touch.
“Road closures are still in place while enquiries are conducted at the scene, and I want to thank the public for their patience at this time.”
