A pet carer turned pet detective has rescued a second dog in three weeks.
Sue Forrester found frightened cockerpoo puppy Ralph, who was believed to have been hit by two cars, hiding in a Newport garden more than 24 hours after he had gone missing.
Earlier this month she found bichon frise Sunny, who had been on the run for 10 days, on Tentsmuir Beach.
Sue, who runs Balmullo Pet Care, leapt into action at 4.30am on Wednesday with daughter Beth after hearing that 10-month-old Ralph had run away on Tuesday.
And she said: “We were prepared to look through the night for him.”
A member of a group called Dana’s Angels formed to help find missing pets, Sue was one of several volunteers scouring the area for the frightened pooch after his owner’s sister posted a plea on social media.
Word quickly spread about the search for Ralph, who was even spotted on the Tay Road Bridge.
After a report that he was in a garden she captured him with the help of fellow searchers Linzi Kilburn, Laura Hankerson and Lindsay McFadyen and he was given the all-clear by a vet.
Exhausted after the hunt, Sue said: “He was cowering in the bushes. I spoke to him a little bit then he let me put a lead over his head.
“He was gentle as anything, despite reports that he had been hit twice, and he seemed to be ok.
“He is a very lucky dog. He was spotted on the Tay bridge and he must have crossed quite a few roads.”
Ralph was being looked after in Newport while his owner, Lori Thomson, 29, of Dundee, was on holiday.
Lori’s relieved sister Lisa Carlin, 36, also of Dundee, launched a search for him after learning he had absconded on Tuesday afternoon.
She said: “I can’t thank Sue enough.
“She phoned me at 4.30am on Wednesday morning and said she was heading out and she didn’t stop until he was found.”
She said Lori, who had booked a flight home from Spain to look for her beloved pet, was “over the moon” that Ralph was back with her family unscathed from his ordeal.
Facebook group Dana’s Angels was formed after a dog called Dana went missing in Glenrothes at Christmas.
Sue was alerted by a fellow member to Sunny’s disappearance on May 28, and found her after following her lone pawprints in the sand.
