Police are investigating two attacks of vandalism in the grounds of a Fife primary school.
An outdoor classroom, including a bug hotel created by pupils, was struck in the first incident at Freuchie Primary School last weekend.
Two days later a storage unit installed only hours earlier was badly damaged.
During the two incidents a gate was also broken, slates pulled from the school roof, a planter overturned and bottles and rubbish left strewn around the outdoor classroom.
They have resulted in school grounds being closed to the public out of hours.
The school declined to comment on the damage but Freuchie Primary School Parent Council shared the news on its Facebook page.
Following Monday night’s damage, it said: “We are sad to report that even more vandalism has occurred in the playground last night.
“The brand new storage unit… that was only installed at 3pm yesterday was badly damaged when it was attempted to be broken into, a gate was broken and slates were pulled off the roof.
“The police have been to the school today and this unfortunately means that we can’t allow anyone into the playground out of school hours anymore, for their safety as well as to prevent more damage.
“If you see anyone in the smaller playground or outdoor classroom after hours… or in the holidays please let the police know by calling the non-emergency number.”
The group also described how the new bug hotel was broken and the mess left in the outdoor classroom.
It said: “We are trying very hard to make the playground a more fun-filled place for the pupils so we would ask everyone in Freuchie to look after it as much as possible and encourage anyone who wants to play in the playground after hours to take care of it too.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Fife are investigating two incidents of vandalism in the grounds of Freuchie Primary School.
“Anyone with information about this is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The first incident occurred last Friday night or Saturday morning and the second between 5pm on Monday and 7am on Tuesday.
