A church will open its doors to allow people to reflect on the death of murdered tot Liam Fee.
Thornton Parish Church will be open from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday night.
Ribbons and tributes are tied to the fence outside the church in the Fife village where two-year-old Liam lived and died at the hands of his mother and her partner.
Minister of Markinch and Thornton Parish Church, the Rev Carolann Erskine, said the community was still grieving for the toddler, who was brutally assaulted by Rachael Trelfa and Nyomi Fee.
Following their sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh this morning, she said: “The announcement of this sentence will in some ways give closure to those seeking justice for the tragic death of little Liam.
“The suffering and premature death of this young child, so vulnerable and defenceless, has left many people with an angry bitterness and a relentless ache.
“As we grieve with hope through awful circumstances, our heartfelt thoughts and prayers remain with family and friends, with professionals involved in the case, with all those involved in the trial itself and with people in the community.”
Trelfa was sentenced to a minimum of 23 and a half years in jail for the murder of Liam and the abuse of two other boys in her care and Fee was sentenced to 24 years.
