A day out at T in the Park ended in a Fife woman being arrested when she was caught drink driving on the way home.
Carrie Lynch decided to drive home after an argument with her boyfriend in which she was pushed to the ground and covered in mud, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.
Police spotted Lynch’s mud-splattered car being driven through Dunfermline in the early hours of the morning and when she was stopped they saw she was clearly intoxicated.
Lynch was found to be nearly two times over the limit, having only recently had her licence returned following a previous drink-drive conviction.
Lynch, 23, of Bank Place, Leslie, appeared from custody and admitted that on July 11 in Appin Crescent, Dunfermline, she drove with excess alcohol (42 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit being 22 microgrammes).
Depute fiscal Claire Bremner said, “Police officers on mobile patrol at 3.35am in Pilmuir Street saw the accused driving towards the town centre. She drove over a mini roundabout and the car was covered in mud.”
Police followed her and she was stopped in Appin Crescent. “It was obvious to officers that she was under the influence of alcohol. There was a very strong smell of alcohol, her speech was slurred and she was laboured in her movements. She was covered with mud.
“Officers suspected she was returning from T in the Park.”
Defence solicitor Selina McKay said, “She had been at T in the Park. She had been there since 4pm. There was an argument with her partner which became physical. She was thrown into mud and her clothes were ripped. Subsequently, she made the mistake of driving home. She thought she was okay to drive.”
She said her client had three children and was currently not working.
Sheriff Charles Macnair fined Lynch £400 and disqualified her from driving for three years.
