Raw sewage has forced the closure of part of a popular Fife footpath.
An area of Rabbit Braes, which runs through woodland in the north of Kirkcaldy, has been fenced off for safety reasons until the problem is dealt with.
The path, just off Broom Road, was created and maintained by a group of volunteers and is popular with children, walkers and cyclists.
It is well used, particularly at this time of year.
Local councillor Judy Hamilton said she had been notified of the issue by several members of the public.
“Sewage is running into a culvert which is there to catch any water that runs down the hill,” she said.
“Scottish Water have been told about it and have been out to see.
“It’s definitely there’s and they’re hoping to have a contractor out today to fix it.”
She added: “There’s no point in cleaning it because its still running.
“It’s an area used by children and dogs and cyclists so people should be careful.
“It’s not very nice.”
A spokesman for Scottish Water said they were working to repair the fault.
“We quickly assessed this issue once it was reported to us and have arranged for contractors to be on site today to carry out the repair and clean-up,” he said.
“The location of the sewer, on a path going through woods, has meant that this is a complicated repair.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
