Police are investigating after a baby girl was struck by an egg in a Dunfermline park.
The egg was dropped from a bridge onto the seven-month-old, who was part of a group of adults and small children in prams and pushchairs.
While the baby was not injured, officers have warned the consequences of such “reckless” behaviour could have been much worse.
The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Wednesday within the Glen area of Pittencrieff Park.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace whoever was responsible.
Sergeant Kenny Bow from the Community Investigation Unit in Dunfermline, said: “The fact that the child was unhurt during this incident is more down to luck than judgement.
“While we believe this has been done as a prank rather than out of any malice, it is extremely dangerous to drop any item from height and the consequences could have been worse for those walking below..”
He added: “We would like to remind the public, in particular children, of the risks and consequences of such reckless behaviour.
“With it being the school holidays the Glen was extremely busy and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the culprits or who has any information to come forward.”
