A man was violently attacked by a teenager in Dunfermline town centre, knocked to the ground and robbed.
The victim, who was drunk after enjoying a night out with friends, had his head stamped on and wallet stolen after being attacked by two youths.
One of the attackers, Kenneth Solway,18, of Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline, has been detained for more than 17 months after admitting assault.
As well as stamping on the victim’s head, Solway had a running kick at his head before going through his pockets and stealing his wallet.
Depute fiscal Kiran Uppal told Dunfermline Sheriff Court John Cusick had been drinking in Coady’s bar with two other people and later went to the Life nightclub.
Ms Uppal said the victim admitted he was very drunk and could not remember leaving the venue.
However, CCTV showed him leaving with a male and female, who then got into a taxi, leaving Mr Cusick walking up Bruce Street alone at 2.30am where he was approached by the youths.
Ms Uppal told the court punches were exchanged before Mr Cusick was pushed to the ground. The other attacker is seen on CCTV kicking the victim on the head six times.
He was then kicked four times to the head and body by Solway. He moved away then returned to kick him on the head and stamp on his head three times.
Solway went back to the victim yet again to kick him on the head before robbing him.
A CCTV operator had contacted police officers in the vicinity and Solway was detained.
Mr Cusick was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he was found to have a black eye, cuts to his nose, bruising and swelling.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said his client suffered from ADHD and Asperger Syndrome. He had shown “clear remorse” for his actions but could not remember anything of the incident.
Solway was sentenced for a separate offence which took place in Dunfermline last year — behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and struggling with a man at Pittencrieff Park on July 8.
Sentence had been deferred for Solway to be of good behaviour but he failed to comply.
Sheriff Charles Macnair told Solway he had committed a “vicious and sustained attack which ended up as a robbery”.
Solway was sentenced to 16 months’ detention for the assault and robbery and a further 50 days for the Pittencrieff Park incident.
