A police watchdog has begun an investigation following the death of a woman found seriously injured at a house in St Andrews.
Elizabeth Bowe, 50, died at Ninewells Hospital on Tuesday September 20 following the incident three days earlier at Bobby Jones Place.
A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc) has now been instructed by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) to carry out a probe in the wake of the death.
A Pirc spokesman said: “The investigation will focus on the initial police response leading up to the incident.
“A report on the commissioner’s findings will be submitted to the COPFS in due course.”
Ms Bowe’s brother, Charles Gordon, has appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court facing a single charge of murder.
He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
