One Direction star Niall Horan has pulled out of this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews due to other commitments.
The golf-loving Irish singer-songwriter had said he had been eagerly awaiting the chance to take part in the event, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday on the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns Golf Links.
However, he has now confirmed he will miss the event due to his busy schedule – disappointing fans of the band and celebrity spotters who perhaps were hoping to catch a glimpse of him in Fife.
So sorry to @dunhilllinks that I am unable to now play this week coz of other commitments . Good luck to everyone playing !

Horan is still a member of his home town club Mullingar in Westmeath, and famously caddied for Rory McIlroy last year in the traditional par three tournament at The Masters in Augusta.
The Irishman had said about taking part in the Dunhill: “I love the history and tradition of golf and the Alfred Dunhill Links is played at the most iconic venue in the world.
“It will be amazing walking these famous fairways with so many great professionals and actually being a part of the tournament.
“I hope I can create a few moments of my own, but simply being there and being part of this great event is enough.”
