Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a young mother whose body was found in a public park in Dunfermline earlier this week.
Police cordoned off Headwell Park and surrounding streets early on Wednesday morning after a passer-by discovered Demi Fox, 20, at around 7.30am.
An investigation has been launched, but officers have confirmed that they are treating the death of Ms Fox – who had a three-year-old daughter named Peighton – as non-suspicious.
The news of Ms Fox’s tragic death has shocked the local community, and friends and family have been supporting each other since word broke.
A Facebook page entitled ‘Remembering Demi Fox’ has been set up and there have been hundreds of messages posted on it over the last day or so.
One from her cousin Kaitlyn Askin read: “My heart is broken for our entire family. I had the pleasure of getting to know and forming a relationship with this beautiful cousin of mine, I know you had so much going on in life and were trying so hard to figure you out.
“I’ll forever cherish how much you trusted me, and our talks about life, and plans to travel and for our kids to know each other like we didn’t get to growing up.
“I hope you rest peacefully beautiful.”
Another from friend Caitlin Anderson read: “Shine bright Demi! A beautiful girl taken far too young, you still makes me laugh thinking back years ago, wish it hadn’t been so long but I’ll never forget you! never know what’s around the corner, I hope you find peace little one. RIP Angel.”
Friend Danny Robertson added: “R.I.P Demi Fox. Legend of a lass. Too soon! Thoughts and prayers go out to family. Heaven gained an angel.”
Headwell Road had been cordoned off for some time on Wednesday morning from the junction with Arthur Street and locals were prevented from entering the park, which has a children’s play area.
The park has since reopened.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police in Fife were called to Headwell Road in Dunfermline around 7.30am on Wednesday October 5 after the body of a 20-year-old woman was found.
“Next of kin have now been traced and officers are supporting them at this difficult time.
“Enquiries into the death are ongoing, however there are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
