A pair of young boys in Fife have been charged after allegedly menacing members of the public while wearing clown masks, The Courier can reveal.
The bizarre craze of people wearing so-called “killer clown” costumes has been reported in towns and cities across the UK, and officers have confirmed that people in Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park were targeted on Monday.
Two 12-year-old boys have been reported following the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Two 12-year-old boys have been charged in connection with threatening and intimidating behaviour while within Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline on Monday October 10.
“The pair will be reported to the Children’s Reporter.”
It is understood there have been similar incidents in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes in the last week, although Police Scotland confirmed that only the two 12-year-olds in Dunfermline have been charged with any offence thus far.
There have also been unrelated reports of “killer clowns” scaring people in Perth and Dundee.
