A Fife secondary school is preparing to party as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The final touches are being put in place as Glenrothes High School gets ready to welcome back former pupils and staff.
A host of events will begin on Wednesday, with former pupils being given the opportunity to return to their old stomping ground for tours.
A committee of staff and pupils has helped to lead preparations for the festivities, and Avril McNeill, Glenrothes High rector, said that the celebrations marked the culmination of months of hard work.
“The committee has been meeting over the last few months to help put things together and everyone is looking forward to the events,” she said.
Asked what made the school particularly special, she continued: “The ethos of the school is hugely positive.
“The relationships between the staff and the pupils is fantastic.
“We are a Rights Respecting secondary school and the attitude of the pupils is hugely positive.”
The celebrations begin on Wednesday with a look back on the schools half-century, with a pupil/staff “mingle” taking place from 4.30pm to 8pm.
On Saturday, an open doors day will give former pupils and staff the opportunity to take a tour of their old school and relive those “awkward teenage years”.
Artwork and a special book has also been prepared, featuring photographs showing the school through the decades.
Several of today’s staff members are former pupils, while administrative assistant Linda Walker is surrounded by family members past and present with ties to Glenrothes High.
“I’ve worked here for 13 years,” she said.
“My husband came here in 1967, my two daughters came through the school, and now my granddaughter is here and my grandson is coming next year.
“It’s a great school and a great place to work.”
