Anger is continuing to grow over the decision to close the Royal Navy’s base at Rosyth.
MoD Caledonia is scheduled to close by 2022, ending the navy’s historic links with Fife.
Fife Council leader David Ross said: “If this closure does go ahead, then the Ministry of Defence has a responsibility to help minimise the economic and social impact of any changes, as well as giving assurances to the current workforce and those based at Caledonia.
“The timescale announced for the closure is 2022, so we have time to prepare for changes, but need clarity to move forward and be able to offer adequate support to those people and communities who need it.
“I will be seeking an early meeting with the MoD to understand the reasons behind this move and to seek clarity on the impact these decisions will have on jobs and communities in Fife.”
