The body of a 57-year-old woman was found at the shore in Dalgety Bay on Saturday.
Police Scotland said the death of the woman, who has not been named, was not believed to be suspicious.
The remains were discovered on the beach near the ruins of St Bridget’s Kirk.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a body of a 57-year-old woman was discovered on the shore near St Colme Road in Dalgety Bay at around 3pm on Saturday November 12.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending the result of a post mortem examination however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances at this time.
“Next of kin has been informed and officers are continuing to offer them support at this difficult time.”
