A Fife road has been branded a bombsite with drivers forced to dodge countless potholes.
David Trowell has had to replace eight tyres, claiming they were wrecked on the A924 Cupar to Springfield road.
The school janitor says people are driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid huge holes in the tarmac.
And he declared: “It’s an accident waiting to happen.”
David, from Windygates, has reported the north east Fife potholes to Fife Council several times.
But he claims the transportation service is instead focusing on routes to this summer’s Open Golf Championship in St Andrews.
“These roads are less damaged than this one but they’re doing them first,” he said.
“The council needs to get its priorities right.”
Road is ‘an absolute disgrace’
David said he first reported the Cupar to Springfield road in November.
“It’s an absolute disgrace,” he said.
“In fact, it’s an actual danger because people are driving along the middle of the road to avoid potholes.
“You come round the corner and suddenly meet someone on your side of the road.
“It’s an accident waiting to happen.”
David works at three different primary schools and travels the road four or five times a day.
He said it is ruining people’s cars.
“It’s shredding our tyres,” he said. “I’ve had to replace all four of mine at the last two MOTs and the garage said it was because of potholes.
“I tried to bill the council but they say I can’t prove that’s what caused it.”
And he added: “Things are tough enough as it is without having to replace tyres all the time.
“We all pay council tax, road tax and every other tax, and we should receive a proper service for it.”
Work on the north-east Fife potholes to begin soon
Fife Council’s roads and transportation service manager Martin Kingham confirmed work would begin on the Springfield road soon.
He said: “We have to prioritise the road resurfacing work that we do to make the most of the available funding.
“This year we have prioritised certain strategic routes to St Andrews in advance of the 150th Open, as well as concentrating on local roads in most need of repair.
“We will be working on the C13 from Springfield to the A914 (Clushford Toll) in the next few weeks and this work should be finished by the end of April.”
