Thousands of north-east Fife residents have had their internet restored – after a cable was accidentally damaged by road workers. A Bear Scotland error meant residents were left without access on Wednesday morning. The outage lasted more than 24 hours, with the issue rectified by Friday morning. A spokesperson for BT said: “Repairs were completed late last night and services restored. Several villages affected by outage “Anyone still experiencing any issues should contact their service provider for support.” Villages including Auchtermuchty, Balmalcolm, Kettlebridge, Kingskettle, Strathmiglo, Ladybank and Freuchie were affected. North East Fife MSP Willie Rennie described it as a “massive inconvenience”. Bear Scotland confirmed the damage had been caused during the installation of safety barriers on the A92 in Ladybank.
