Police are appealing for information as they investigate an incident which happened near to Kirkcaldy High School on Thursday December 1.
The incident happened in Middle Den, a path in a wooded area near to Dunnikier Way, at around 8.30am.
Police said they are keen to trace a woman who was walking on Middle Den on Thursday morning from the direction of the school as she may have information to share as a witness.
The woman may be the mother of a pupil at the high school or local primary school or she may have been walking to Victoria Hospital.
Detective Inspector Jim Leeson said: “It is important that we trace this woman as she may have important information that could assist us.”
He urged the woman, or anyone else who was in the area at the time, or spoke to anyone on the path, to contact police.
