A makeshift camp near Amazon was found deserted on Tuesday morning, shortly after police were spotted nearby.
The last known tent near the Dunfermline depot, believed to have been occupied by a worker up until Monday, was gone.
It could not be established whether officers had asked the camper to move on.
However, an hour after a Police Scotland van was spotted parked nearby just before 9am The Courier found the site abandoned.
A dog walker claimed to have spotted its occupant wandering in the woodland just yards from the fulfilment centre.
Amazon has come under fire for its employment practises after The Courier revealed that hard pressed workers had resorted to sleeping under canvas to avoid paying bus fares.
Workers, many of them hired by agencies, travel from Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland to work at the massive Fife warehouse.
The occupant of the blue tent, who was believed to have camped for several months just metres from the busy M90, previously refused to speak to reporters.
A tent belonging to another worker, who said camping was cheaper and easier than commuting from his home in Perth, had already been removed.
Police Scotland said it had no record of incidents in the area and could not tell us why the police officers were there.
When The Courier visited on Monday, the occupant of the tent declined to speak.
